Paolo Borlenghi is a man with a bohemian spirit, who has made dreams the constant of his life.

Over the years, his imagination has enjoyed creating different realities up to Dream Factory: an event space and olfactory laboratory where he can live a sensory experience.

In the Brera district, in a Milanese railing house from the early twentieth century, today tailor-made perfumes are created between clouds and blue. Paolo made real the stories he heard repeated by the gallerist Giorgio Marconi. Imagine them next to each other, among frames and paintings, discussing the beauty and life of Milanese artists of the past, when art also meant friendship, real human relationships, lived without the stress of performance of our days.

Perfume is a winning ally for transmitting sensations and memories: “I decided to create the laboratory and olfactory path of Sniff Sniff, giving it a name that is openly ironic and provocative. I wanted to wink at artists like Cattelan who have always created a playful atmosphere around art. »

It really feels like entering a designer arcade, when you cross the threshold of Dream Factory: a table set with the rarest objects and Seletti sofas. In this exhibition and inspirational context, you can freely create a personal fragrance, starting from the bases and oils selected by the famous nose Maurizio Cerizza, entrepreneur CFF (Creative Flavours & Fragrances). The magic begins outside, in a glass gazebo. When I ask him why he chose to create the experience outside, Paolo replies that in itself an adventure must stimulate curiosity and allow “exploration”, so “I wanted to create an experience that was lived in full natural light, in the middle of a secret garden, surrounded by plants and surrounded by greenery as if we were flowers ourselves. Even when I make the itinerant format, the principle will be the same. Working in the sunlight changes your perspective, you travel more with your mind.”

Imagine yourself in the gazebo, with nine bases, and thirty-three oils to smell for about an hour, one by one, like a master perfumer. You let yourself be enraptured by a fragrance, try it on your skin and then adjust it by leaving it on. And so on until you find your signature perfume. The scents are potent. They awaken personal memories and unlock sensations and images.

What could be the scent of a warrior woman? Paolo replies with these ingredients: “Courage can also be seen in perfume: for example, wearing a masculine perfume, even if you are a woman. However, the best base is the rock on, which has a prevalence of woods and resins for a strong and decisive character. It is a base that lends itself very well to being customized with other oils. Possible combinations with this base could be pink pepper, with a sparkling flavor that refers to distant worlds, and incense, also called the “King of resins”, which gives mystery and magic to fragrances. Also interesting is Ylang Ylang, a plant native to Tropical Asia with a sweet, floral and intense scent. It harmonizes contrasts, removes fear, releases sensuality and develops intuition, courage and creativity. Otherwise, cardamom, a spice of oriental origin that is warm and intense. Strongly aromatic with citrus and slightly balsamic notes, this oil makes the wearer bold and strong, even more so when combined with leather, with an earthy tone reminiscent of nature, or jasmine, which releases a strong, persistent and intoxicating smell.”

Perfume is a real weapon, which even more than clothes, says something about our intimacy and personality. It therefore becomes a gift and a very important value to know how to choose the right fragrances.
